Olive’s arrived

and here she is : http://gslis.simmons.edu/gsdl07/Henty/orhmainpage.htm

And remember to fill in Tom’s survey! He says…

“The time commitment survey for the digital library cost evaluation has been sent out. If you don’t get it by tomorrow, email Thomas Fulda at fulda@simmons.edu for a resend.

Two things to remember:

First, all responses will be considered anonymously, whatever information you submit will only be used for cost evaluation purposes. Any information that makes it into the report will be at the committee level only; no individuals will be singled out.

Second, I know it’s been a long semester for everyone, so just do the best you can with the time estimates. I don’t expect a minute by minute breakdown of every little thing you’ve done; a ballpark figure should be enough.”

I have three reminders for everyone

  1. We are meeting this Thursday at the Boston Public Library (Main Branch - outside on the Copley Square side), at 9:30am. After this we are rushing back to the tech lab for a presentation
  2. ALL metadata should be complete. As you finish the PMD please email the team member responsible for QC/QA your pages (Cover - page 12 are Rachael, page 13 to 26 are Tamar, and 27 through the back cover should email Amanda). When you finish your DMD write the code word at the top of your metadata wiki page.
  3. Check out the content section put up by Kelli before Thursday
  4. Not a reminder, but a celebration…according to Tom we are officially done scanning
  5. I’ll post the agenda for Thursday tomorrow.

Tom’s newest digitization trick

Tom has gone through the first batch of finished scans, and he has done corrections for some of them. Mostly, just renaming files etc. So if you got the email about corrections please be sure to change your metadata to match what he has done.

That trick I mention is as follows… Tom says “This isn’t listed in the instructions, but I rotated all
images so that up is up.  (acheived using Photoshop pull-down sequence “Image”/”Rotate Canvas”/”90 degrees CC”).  If objects have been pasted into the scrapbook sideways, I rotated objects at the item level so that up is up.”
